Adult Education in January 2025

Studying the Bible Prayerfully – A Series for Bethel’s Adult Education Class. Presented by Andrew Dyck, Assistant Professor of Christian Spirituality and Pastoral Ministry, Canadian Mennonite University.

As the New Year (2025) begins, our Adult Education will focus on prayer. Andrew Dyck will present his Portable CMU course on “Studying the Bible Prayerfully.” He will explore the interplay between reading the Bible, and being read by the Bible, and he will ask how we can approach the Bible through prayer.

January 5: the focus will be on reading the Bible by means of lectio divina (sacred reading as inspired by St. Benedict).

January 12: the topic will be reading the Bible by means of imaginative contemplation (as taught by St. Ignatius).

January 19: the third session will focus on praying the Lord’s Prayer.
