Deacon Executive

The Deacons are tasked with paying attention to the spiritual wellbeing and health of the Bethel Mennonite Church community.  To fulfill this mandate, various Deacon ministries support worship and life in the community.

Worship is an important part of our life as a community and the Deacons are involved with the sacramental acts of worship such as communion, ordination, baptism.   The Deacons provide an Ushering ministry for Sunday Services and events, as well as support for Worship at Bethel Place.

A Community Life/Hospitality ministry develops and supports our life as a community of faith.  As a community we need to be in relationship with one another and community life works towards making connections with one another.  The ministry involves connecting each other through acts of kindness, planning events and sharing of meals at special congregational functions.  We also support other groups and make connections outside our Bethel community. A Caregiving ministry pays attention to the spiritual, emotional, physical, and mental needs of our community to ensure those in our community feel connected and supported by the congregation at the various stages of life.  The Youth/Young Adult/Young Families ministry is a vital aspect of supporting these groups in their faith formation.  As a community of faith we believe all are invited to be part of the church of Christ.  The Pilgrim Group is a significant ministry where LGBTQ people and families can gather to support one another.  Care groups are an ongoing ministry where intentional small groups are formed to gather together to support each other and provide a regular connection between members of our community.
