Witness Executive
We seek to engage our congregation in loving and serving our neighbours by developing community ministry initiatives, building and maintaining partnerships with local organizations serving our community, and supporting agencies that extend God's love throughout our province and around the world.
Community Ministries:
Carter Early Learning Centre (two board reps appointed by the Gift Discernment Committee, GDC)
Committees Related to Witness:
Mennonite Voluntary Service program (appointed by GDC).
Affiliated External Ministries & Agencies:
Refugee Support (internal or external programs)
Eden Health Services (Recovery of Hope)
Others as appropriate or appointed by Church Council
The Witness Executive develops, coordinates and oversees the various programs of BMC which relate to Bethel’s vision of loving our neighbours. We strive:
To carry out Bethel’s vision in Community Ministry in collaboration with Bethel’s Associate Pastor.
To work with the Associate Pastor in developing and maintaining community ministry programs that meet the specific needs of our community as an expression of Bethel’s commitment to loving our neighbours.
To support, fund and engage in the work of Bethel’s affiliated external ministries and agencies.
To promote MCM's Camps with Meaning ministry by sponsoring neighbourhood and Bethel children, and by financially supporting camp staff from Bethel or other affiliate churches.
To initiate new areas of engagement and programs as discerned by the Bethel congregation and by Witness.
To engage annually with all committees that report to Witness.
To promote Bethel’s telling of stories of how individuals and the Bethel congregation at large live out Bethel’s vision of loving our neighbours in our community, throughout our province and around the world.
To encourage peacemaking through faith-based peace initiatives: e.g. MCC, Indigenous relations and reconciliation, Pride Parade, Climate Action, Community Peacemaker Teams, etc.
